About Chess Pangolin

Chess Pangolin is a chess-learning app with local game analysis, coached reviews and guided practice.

These terms form an agreement between you and CHESS STALLION LTD, registered in Scotland with company number SC898354, for your use of Chess Pangolin. Correspondence address: Chess Stallion Limited, 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4AN, United Kingdom. Product and account support: privacy@chessstallion.com.

When you buy a subscription, Paddle is the authorised reseller and merchant of record. Your payment transaction is also governed by the Paddle Buyer Terms. Chess Stallion provides and supports the product; Paddle processes checkout, tax, receipts, recurring charges, cancellations and refunds.

Who may use it

Chess Pangolin is for personal chess learning. You must be legally able to agree to these terms. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must review these terms and must make and manage any paid subscription for you. If you are under 13, a parent or guardian must create and manage any account for you.

Free and paid plans

The free app can be used without buying a subscription. All Access is offered at £2.99 monthly or £29.99 annually. The Founding 500 offer is closed to new subscriptions. Existing founder subscriptions retain their agreed price protection while continuously active. The checkout shows the billing interval, tax treatment and total before payment.

Engine analysis, Game Coach coaching, retries, personal-game puzzle practice and recommendations, coached Pit games, ordinary practice and local review history are unlimited and free. All Access adds the full structured lesson library and eligible cross-device sync. If paid access ends, free practice and previously earned local work remain available; paid library access and cloud sync stop. A free recommendation can point to a paid lesson; its topic and preview remain visible, while its full content requires All Access.

Your account and local records

You are responsible for access to the email account used to sign in. Do not share sign-in codes. Complete reviewed games remain in the browser where they were reviewed; optional account sync carries only the derived learning information described in the privacy notice. Download any local data you want to keep before clearing browser storage or changing device.

Renewal and cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically for the interval and price shown at checkout until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through “Cancel subscription” in your Chess Pangolin account or the link in Paddle’s receipt email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so access normally continues until then and no further renewal is charged. A cancelled founder subscription may not regain its former founder price if restarted.

Deleting the app account does not itself cancel a subscription. To prevent an orphaned renewal, Chess Pangolin blocks cloud-account deletion while a subscription can still renew; cancel it first and delete the account after cancellation takes effect.

Withdrawals and refunds

Paddle’s Refund Policy explains statutory withdrawal rights, discretionary refunds and how to submit a request. For UK consumers, it currently describes a 14-day withdrawal period for some digital-content and service purchases, including the first subscription payment and an annual subscription’s renewal, subject to the rules on starting to use digital content after expressly consenting to immediate supply.

You can ask us to investigate a product or access problem at privacy@chessstallion.com, or submit a refund request directly through Paddle Buyer Support. Keep the Paddle receipt or transaction number, but never send full card details. A full refund ends access for the refunded paid period. A partial refund normally leaves access in place unless the approved refunds together return the entire payment. Refunding an older period does not remove a newer paid period. Refunds do not by themselves cancel future renewal unless the subscription is also cancelled.

Nothing in these terms or the linked policies removes rights that consumer law gives you, including rights when a digital product or service is not as described, fit for purpose, of satisfactory quality where applicable, or provided with reasonable care and skill.

Licence and ownership

While you comply with these terms, Chess Stallion gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Chess Pangolin through the website. Chess Stallion and its licensors retain their intellectual-property rights in the app, coaching, course design and original content. Open-source and third-party material remains subject to the licences and credits shown in the app.

Do not copy or resell substantial parts of the service, bypass access controls, disrupt or probe the service without permission, use automated access that harms availability, or use another person’s account. You retain rights in information you enter. You are responsible for having the right to use any game or other material you choose to import.

Fair use and chess integrity

Do not use Chess Pangolin to cheat during a live game or break a playing site’s rules. Chess Pangolin is not affiliated with or endorsed by Chess.com or Lichess. Engine results and coaching are learning aids, not guarantees of rating improvement, tournament results or error-free analysis.

Availability and changes

We use reasonable care to keep the service available and to provide it as described, but maintenance, security incidents, supplier failures and internet problems can interrupt it. We may change the service to improve it, address security or legal requirements, or retire a feature that is no longer reasonably sustainable. We will not use a change to take away a paid consumer’s mandatory rights. If a material change substantially reduces an active paid plan, we will give reasonable notice where practicable and provide any remedy required by law.

Suspension and ending use

You can stop using the free service at any time. We may suspend or end access where reasonably necessary to protect users or the service, comply with law, respond to fraud, or address a material or repeated breach of these terms. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and give you a chance to correct it. Suspension does not remove applicable refund or consumer rights.

Responsibility when things go wrong

We do not exclude or limit responsibility where doing so would be unlawful. If we breach these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage that was a foreseeable result. Chess Pangolin is supplied for personal use, so we are not responsible for business losses such as lost profits, revenue or business opportunity.

Law, complaints and changes to these terms

These terms are governed by Scots law, without depriving a consumer of mandatory protections in the country where they live. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable consumer law may hear disputes. Material changes apply prospectively and will be communicated before they affect an existing subscription where required.

For a product, access or account complaint, contact privacy@chessstallion.com. We aim to acknowledge messages within two UK business days and urgent paid-access problems within one UK business day. Payment, refund and transaction complaints may also be made directly to Paddle Buyer Support.

Billing reminder: cancellation stops the next renewal; a refund and cancellation are separate actions. Use Manage billing for both the subscription status and Paddle’s transaction support.
